Discharge Testing (known officially as the Extended Service) 
​During it’s lifetime a water fire extinguisher will require one or more “discharge tests” – this is where the extinguisher needs to be completely discharged and refilled in order for the technician to confirm the operation of the working parts and the integrity of the internal mechanisms and cylinder body lining. Unlike most companies, our standard service charge covers the cost of this test through to complete refill and recharge.  
​N.B.  Unfortunately this cost does not cover extinguishers found to be partially or completely empty at the time of service.
Important:  If during the course of our maintenance visit, any of your extinguishers are found to be condemned or damaged beyond repair ...we will provide you with a quote to replace with new.  We will never replace condemned or faulty equipment without your prior approval.

Commissioning of NEW Fire Extinguisher Equipment

This is a requirement in accordance with BS5306:8-2012; Para 4.7 and BS5306:3-2009; Para 4.1 and must be carried out by a qualified competent person as described in BS5306:3-2009: Para 3.6.  Failure to adhere to this instruction, could negate insurance policies in place at the time, should the Fire Extinguisher fail to operate in the event of a fire.

Correct installation and locating of Fire Fighting equipment can often be complex and confusing.  For example placing a Water Extinguisher near a fuel tank can lead to an untrained individual with limited or no knowledge as to which extinguishers are safe to use on different classifications of fire, to pick up and use the first extinguisher which comes to hand, on a fire involving the fuel hazard.  This in turn would have a massive detrimental effect, by intensifying the fire putting both the operator, other personnel and the premises at risk.

FSC (Nationwide) Ltd., have qualified engineers with years of experience, who can commission and install your fire fighting equipment in accordance with the specific requirements of the hazard/risks present.
Annual Fire Extinguisher Servicing and Maintenance

As per the requirements laid out in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it is now a legal requirement for all Businesses within the UK to install Fire Fighting Equipment, within their premises and for the Fire Fighting Equipment to undergo suitable and adequate periodic maintenance in accordance with the specific code of Practice.

FSC (Nationwide) Ltd., are able to carry out Fire Extinguisher Servicing and Maintenance in accordance with BS5306:3-2009 (Commissioning and Maintenance of Portable Fire Equipment) as required by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Our qualified engineers will visit your premises and complete the service of your equipment, providing you with a Certificate of Maintenance and Location Sheet, and advise on any recommendations made during the engineer's visit.

No additional corrective works will be carried out unless prior approval from the customer has been granted.
All Fire Extinguisher Servicing is carried out in accordance with BS5306:3 (Guide for Maintenance of Portable Firefighting Equipment) and BS5306:8 (Selection and Positioning of Portable Fire Fighting Equipment, Code of Practice).
